What have you done today, to make yourself proud? @daviespru

A post from our Community Correspondent Pru Davies @daviespru

The title of my post is that amazing song by Heather Small, whenever I hear it I get goosebumps.

You can’t help but be lifted up by the lyrics and her velvet voice that means “chocolate please” if you know what I mean. For me and I hope that most people by now will know who I am, what I have done and what I stand for – just Google Pru Davies ... I am proud of the strong woman I have become.

The fact that my voice is heard where it needs to be heard on behalf of all those struggling with mental health and wellbeing issues. I have not only written the script, read the book, seen the film and eaten the pie as those in a similar boat will know only too well, but I am testament to the recovery journey – in whatever form that may take for each individual .

Remember that recovery word which is banded about all the time means living life in the best way you can. There are no rules or guidelines to life, you get by in the best way you can. I am proud of being ME, having a wonderful husband who supports me in all that I do, even when things get tough for both of us – another song comes to mind “When the Going gets Rough, the Tough get Stronger”.
