There will never be a statue for me. Celebrate the invisible women on #IWD2016

Community Correspondent Lorna Cosh speaks up for every invisible woman. This is the Mind Waves contribution to Women’s Protest 2015: a celebration of 100 years since the Glasgow rent strikes.

It’s International Women’s Day on March 8.

We’d like to celebrate all the women who’s stories have never been heard. Some of the women who volunteer as Community Correspondents came up with this powerful audio piece that draws attention to the women who change lives and communities every day, but whose names are not known.

I am the woman

I am the woman who lay down on the road to keep the schools open

I am the woman who was sent to prison for not paying my TV licence

I am the woman who fed the kids and did without

I am the woman who made a difference

I am the woman who nobody said thank you to

There will never be a statue for  me
