Goodbye January! Some thoughts

Over the past few weeks, we have been sharing and re-sharing some blog posts about new years resolutions and the myth of Blue Monday. The consensus of these posts have been that the first month of the year can be rough. Obviously, mental ill health isn’t dictated by what month it is, but the pressures of the new year can be responsible for negatively affecting our mood in January. But… January is over! And I’m sure a lot of you will agree with me when I say good riddance! January always feels like the longest month to me, despite the short (and dark!) days. If you’re like me, New Years resolutions tend to fall by the wayside after a few weeks and it’s hard not to compare ourselves to other people and feel like we’re failing. Social media has a lot to answer for when it comes to comparing ourselves unfavourably with others, so here’s a post to say well done to us all for simply getting through January.

Congratulations! It’s February 1st. Today in Glasgow the sun rose at 8.14 and it will set at 16.49. That’s almost ten hours of daylight, and it’s only getting lighter! Full steam ahead ☀️☀️☀️
