Our theme at the moment is music and wellbeing. At our Community Correspondents meeting recently we talked about our favourite music and what it makes us feel. We love this idea that came from one of our Community Correspondents.
Sometimes, feelings can be a lot to deal with. Whether it’s joy or despair, we don’t always take the time to stop and spend time with our feelings. The messy reality of what’s inside us isn’t always welcome in the queue at the supermarket or when you’re negotiating getting on the bus.
But, when you stop and listen to music, it’s a chance for what’s inside to come out. It’s a safe, contained space to just let it all out and dance around the living room, or cry on the couch, or punch a pillow. Then when the music stops, we go back to normal.
It’s a simple concept, but she said it beautifully.
this post really resonates well with me. I find nothing more restorative and ‘connecting’ than to take a walk and listen to tunes.
