The Commonwealth Games: a poem by Jane Chisholm

Our Community Correspondent Jane Chisholm reflects on the Commonwealth Games with a poem.

Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games

Has came and been

The biggest event

Glasgow has ever seen

The contestants they came from

Nations far and wide

To compete in their sports

All around the Clyde

There were famous people

Like Lulu, ‘the Big Yin’

Even our monarch the Queen

And photo bombing

She was even seen

Many will go home

With memories to last

As they say there’s never

Been a friendlier peoples’ games

Like this in the past
