‘Well rehearsed chapters of change’ – Maureen reflects on seasons and time

A post from our Community Correspondent Maureen Gilmour, accompanied by her season themed zine.

I sit alone and watch the sunbeams dance slowly across the walls, followed by the shadows of twilight and then the darkness of night; that quiet blanket of stillness that descends.

Sunrise approaches and so begins another day. Each day, 24 hours long, no change to the clock that man provides, but yet such subtle changes to the clock that mother nature follows.

From spring to summer- summer to autumn – autumn to winter – then back to spring.

Each season that mother nature brings comes with its own “personality”, its own well rehearsed chapters of change, of new beginnings, of captivating scenes. Each with its own palette,  shades of every colour known to man.

To choose one favourite season would feel like a betrayal in some way to mother nature herself, like choosing your favourite offpsring.

Each one has its own special place in our lives. Each one brings such surprises in its own way, from the new blooms in spring, to the lazy hazy warmth of summer, the golden palette of autumn and the crisp sharp air of winter.

Each has its time on mother nature’s clock, but oh how time flies.

I sit alone and watch the sunbeams dance slowly across the walls, followed by the shadows of twilight and then the darkness of night.

That quiet blanket of stillness descends once again and I wonder…

“where have the years gone?”
