Workshops happening in Glasgow and Edinburgh – would you like to help develop innovative new resources aimed at supporting young people who self harm?

As part of a new ESF-funded research project hosted by the Department of Computer and information Sciences at the University of Strathclyde and the charity Health in Mind, this is a call for participation in innovation workshops in mid-September on the theme of:

“Addressing self-harm via digital innovation”

The project are keen to have the participation of:

-Young people aged 18-25 with experience of self-harm.

-All those with an interest in developing new tools to support young people who self-harm.

-Anyone currently supporting a young person who self harms.

The workshops will explore the sort of questions you’ve had about self-harm, or about supporting a young person who self-harms; and what you do in order to try to answer those questions. There will be a few short group activities where you will be asked to share your ideas to create some simple but innovative designs. Facilitators will ensure that your contributions are treated sensitively and confidentially. There will also be experienced mental health professionals on hand to provide support, advice and information to participants.

The dates and locations are as follows:

EDINBURGH (Easter Rd): Mon 17 September 2018 10am-3pm

GLASGOW (Strathclyde Uni): Wed 19 September 2018 10am-3pm

Travel expenses will be reimbursed and a buffet lunch will be provided.

If you are keen to contribute please contact Emma Nicol (emma.nicol@strath.ac.uk) with your name, role (if applicable), and the location of the workshop you’d like to attend.
