Mental Health Awareness Week seems like an apt time to announce our brand new Mind Waves project!
Thanks to a grant award from the National Lotteries Community Fund, we will be hosting our 12 month Creative Advocacy project from June 2026. This programme of arts-based activities and content creation workshops are specifically aimed at adults in Greater Glasgow and Clyde (18 years and over) with lived experience of mental ill health who would like to use creativity for wellbeing.

Creative Advocacy is all about giving a platform to the voices of lived experience, with two inclusive and engaging workshops each month. The diverse programme will include creative writing, podcasting, music-making, “art-ivism”, storytelling, drama for wellbeing and much more! Our participatory approach will empower attendees to:
- share their own stories and perspectives in a supportive, safe and creative space
- use creative methods explore the theme of mental health stigma
- feel good through creative expression and social connection
People are welcome to attend one, some or all of the free workshops.
We are kicking off Creative Advocacy in June with two writing workshops led by the fantastic writer and facilitator, Madeline Docherty: Finding Clarity in Journalling (Thursday 18th June) and Sharing your story through blogging (Tuesday 30th June).
Previous Mind Waves participants have gained so much from Maddy’s wellbeing-focussed writing sessions and we can’t wait to have her back for the Creative Advocacy project. Find full workshop details and more about Maddy at our Eventbrite page. Booking is available directly through Eventbrite or you can email marie@mindwavesnews.com.
With thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland for making it possible to provide these free to access workshops.
