Come as you are – Mind Waves Community Jam is back for 2026!

We are delighted to announce that our Mind Waves Community Jam sessions return this week, thanks to further support from the Glasgow Wellbeing Fund!  This new funding is also enabling our musicians Ali and Marie to offer inclusive music outreach sessions for community groups across Glasgow  – more news on the outreach programme and how you can work with us coming soon!  For now, read on for full details of our regular Community Jam meet-ups.

Community Jam is a free, informal and inclusive music group.  We make music together with the simple purpose of feeling good through self expression and creativity.  Our sessions include singing, experimenting with instruments and percussion and having a go with some fun, accessible music technology (as well as having a cuppa and a blether too!).  Made possible by the Glasgow Wellbeing Fund, these sessions are fully funded for any adult 18 + in the Glasgow city area.

We meet fortnightly on Thursdays at Project Ability, 103 Trongate, Glasgow.  Sessions run from 11.00am-12.30pm.  Our next session dates are as follows:

  • Thursday 30th April
  • Thursday 14th May
  • Thursday 28th May
  • Thursday 11th June
  • Thursday 25th June
  • (There will be a break in July with sessions resuming in August)

You might have some questions about coming along to something new, so we’ve tried to provide all the information and reassurance you might need below:

“I don’t have any musical experience”

Maybe you’ve never picked up an instrument in your life, or you’ve been meaning to dust off that guitar again? You might enjoy a good old sing-song just for fun, or perhaps you’d like to try out some interesting music tech? Come as you are – EVERYONE is welcome to jam with us!

“My mental health isn’t great at the moment”

That’s what our group is all about – boosting mental health.  There are so many therapeutic benefits of experiencing music in a community setting and no right or wrong way to join in.  Just want to listen and enjoy a cuppa? We’d love to welcome you.

“I’m worried about going to a new place”

We follow a familiar structure each week so you’ll feel at ease.  We meet at Project Ability which is a centrally located and fully accessible building.  If you need help planning your journey, or would like to bring someone who can support you, that is absolutely no problem.  Don’t worry if you’re a little late – we always have some time at the start to have a chat and a cuppa!

“There’s no way I could write a song”

We beg to differ! With our collaborative approach, the group is creating impressive pieces of work together.  Everyone brings their own unique approach and we would love to support your contributions.

“I can’t make it every week”

Don’t worry, our jam sessions are drop-ins with no booking required.  It’s not a course and there is no way to fall behind.  Come as you are , when you can!

Ready to jam? Email Marie marie@mindwavesnews.com to find out more or to let us know you’re coming along.  We look forward to welcoming you!
