A new running group in Glasgow with a big vision – Find our more about Runfugee!

Information on Runfugee Running Club a brand new inclusive, relaxed and supportive group starting next soon.

The purpose of Runfugee is to help and support refugees in the Glasgow area through running. The group’s founder Neil explains why he was motivated to set up the initiative:

“Running is a great way to build friendships and also can be a big aid in creating happy mental health. I hope refugees and the people of Glasgow can come together to show solidarity and support through running, so everyone is welcome to join in and have some fun!”

This is a free run club that is for all level of fitness. It is not about serious training but brining people together to enjoy the benefits of running. As Runfugee is in the early stages, meet-ups will initially be once a week. However, if enough people are interested and continue to attend, this will progress to two runs each week. At each meet up the group will do a quick light warm up then move onto a 3 to 5 mile run/jog/plod/crawl!

One of the best things about Runfugee is that If you are a refugee and need running shoes or clothes these can be provided. Just get in touch with Runfugee (details below) and they can get you kitted out!

The first run takes place on Wednesday 30th October from 6pm (with run commencing at 6.30pm), assembling at Glasgow Green, Greendyke Street, Saltmarket.

To find out more and register your attendance, contact runfugee@gmail.com or visit their Meet-Up page for further information. You can also check them out on Facebook and Twitter.
