Rosebank Garden

Rosebank Launch

The Rosebank Garden is a new allotment based support service in Kirkintilloch. It was officially opened in August by members of East Dunbartonshire Council, local dignitaries as well as River City actress Libby McArthur. Carr Gomm manages part of the site and facilitates sessions on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council. We are using gardening and horticulture as a way to engage with people experiencing mental health and/or addiction issues to support their recovery journeys. Through this service we aim to; improve mental health, increase confidence, reduce social isolation, increase contribution to the local community and increase the physical activity of all those involved.

The service is staffed by workers with experience of providing support and is based around general horticultural activities such as planting, sowing, harvesting and basic maintenance. People will also have the opportunity to learn how to use the produce of the garden through cookery, arts and crafts.

In addition to activities linked to horticulture, we will offer people the opportunity to participate in;

  • Person centred planning
  • Workshops on resilience
  • Workshops on mindfulness (Mindfulness is a mind-body approach to well-being that can help you change the way you think about experiences and reduce stress and anxiety)
  • Workshops on general health topics

Carr Gomm has a wealth of experience delivering community gardens, having established successful growing projects in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

We are very excited to open the garden to visitors on Sunday 8th December 2013 from 1pm-4pm. During this fundraiser, Santa will pay a visit to the garden and there will be activities for adults and children. To visit Santa and get a gift there will be a small charge of £4.
