The Mindful Image – join Mind Waves for a photography and mindfulness workshop this September!

As the seasons subtly start to shift, September is a beautiful time to experiment with some nature photography and soak up the benefits of time outdoors. Join us on Friday 5th September from 1.00-3.30pm in the beautiful location of The Hidden Gardens in Glasgow for this free creative workshop!

The session will be led by our wonderful volunteer Community Correspondent, Laura McGlinn, a photographer, nature lover, dedicated mental health advocate and all round multi-passionate creative soul!  Laura will guide us through her “Mindful Image” approach which she has developed through her own photography practice over the years.  Together we will explore how taking pictures can help us feel more positive, mindful and at peace.

We’ll meet in the bright and welcoming Boiler House to connect over a cuppa and explore how taking pictures can boost our mental health, as well as sharing some practical tips and techniques.  We’ll then try out some practical photography exercises around the stunning natural surroundings of The Hidden Gardens.  We’ll then meet back in the Boiler House to share a mindful slideshow to celebrate some of our creative shots from the afternoon.

No previous experience is  required – whether complete beginner or seasoned photographer, all are welcome! All you need to bring is your smartphone or camera (doesn’t need to be fancy – anything that takes pictures will do!).  It is also a good idea to dress according to the weather that day as we will be spending some time taking photos outdoors.

Spaces are limited to twelve people and can be booked via our Eventbrite page.  If filling out this form is a barrier for you, please just email marie@mindwavesnews.com to register your interest.  We will be in touch with everyone who books to make sure we have make the event as accessible as possible and ensure that your needs are accommodated.

We look forward to welcoming you!
