After a short summer break, our Community Jam sessions return on Thursday 7th August. This free, informal and inclusive music group is an opportunity to make music together with the simple purpose of feeling good and enjoying getting creative!
This includes singing, songwriting, playing together as a band and also just chatting about music and other things. Made possible by the Glasgow Wellbeing Fund, these sessions are fully funded for any adult in the Glasgow City area.
Where and when:
- Thursday 7th August (and then weekly each Thursday)
- 11.00am-12.30pm
- Project Ability, 103 Trongate, Glasgow
All equipment is provided (although you are more than welcome to bring an instrument). Tea, coffee and snacks are provided and we can also help with travel expenses within the Glasgow City area.
You might have some questions or concerns about coming along to something new and we’ve tried to provide all the information and reassurance you might need below…
“I don’t have any musical experience”
Maybe you’ve never picked up an instrument in your life, or you’ve been meaning to dust off that guitar again? You might enjoy a good old sing-song just for fun or perhaps you’d like to try out some fun percussion and music technology? Come as you are – EVERYONE is welcome to jam with us!
“My mental health isn’t great at the moment”
That’s what our group is all about – boosting mental health. There are so many therapeutic benefits of experiencing music in a community setting and no right or wrong way to join in. Just want to listen and enjoy a cuppa? We’d love to welcome you.
“I’m worried about going to a new place”
We follow a familiar structure each week so you’ll feel at ease and we meet at Project Ability which is a fully accessible building. If you need help planning your journey or would like to bring someone for support then that is absolutely no problem. Don’t worry if you’re a little late – we always have some time at the start to have a chat and a cuppa!
“There’s no way I could write a song”
We beg to differ! With our collaborative approach the group is creative impressive pieces of work together every week. Everyone brings their own unique approach and we would love to support your contributions.
“I can’t make it every week”
Don’t worry, our jam sessions are drop-ins with no booking required. Its not a course and there is no way to fall behind. Come as you are, when you can!
Ready to jam? Email Marie marie@mindwavesnews.com to find out more or to let us know you’re coming along. We look forward to welcoming you!
