Winner: best image of resilience, Denise Milligan

What is your name and where are you from?
My names Denise Milligan.  I live in Glasgow Southside with my husband and two daughters.

How long have you been interested in photography?
I’ve been interested in photography most of my life, but only became really interested and got an SLR when I became ill with cancer. The photography gave me something to focus on during what was a hard time in my life.

How did you choose the subject of your photo to represent resilience?
I took this shot of the ant, in Spain at my mothers house. I love that this tiny wee guy can lift something larger than himself for the better good of his colony. Truly remarkable 😉

What does resilience mean to you?
Resilience means being able to carry on and overcome challenges against the odds …
