Long term conditions and poverty: a platform for the voices of lived experience

Information on the ‘Access to Good Quality Healthcare in Scotland’ event, a participatory event for those with experience of living with a long term condition on a low income.

Background

The Poverty Alliance in partnership with the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) are hosting a joint event to explore the issues of people with lived experience of poverty and long term conditions in accessing good quality health care in Scotland. This will feed into the work of Poverty Alliance’s Get Heard Scotland (GHS) programme which helps people affected by poverty to influence policy and decision-making.

Aims

This event is for people living with long term conditions who have experience of low incomes. It is an opportunity to share your views and experiences of:

  • What works well in accessing good quality health care services in Scotland
  • What needs to change
  • Your aspirations for future health care services

What will happen on the day?

There will be some guest speakers, but much of the day will involve taking part in small group discussions to make sure that we can learn from participants lived experiences of accessing health care in Scotland.
