Getting your Head around Brain Injury

In 2005 a group of people in West Dunbartonshire living with acquired brain injury set up a local group to help support one another. Over the past seven years the Brain Injury Experience Network (BIEN) has grown in number and scope – they are still there to help one another but they also want people to understand more about life after a brain injury.

‘Getting your Head around Brain Injury’ is their latest project, a 20-minute dvd that tells the stories of some of their members – life before, life after, the support of family and friends, dealing with the frustrations and, most of all, helping one another on the road to recovery. The film premiered recently before a specially invited audience at Denny Civic Theatre in Dumbarton, and Mind Waves was there to cover it.
We’ll be posting more about the dvd and its premiere shortly, but hopefully these couple of pictures give a taste of this wonderful evening.
