Christmas at Gartnavel Royal

If you want to find some fun things to do this December, have a look at the programme of events at Gartnavel Royal Hospital. There’s a real variety, so there should be something to suit just about everyone.

  • December 12 2014 10.30am : “A-waissalling we shall go ”
    Carol Singers from The High School of Glasgow Junior Choir share a selcetion of Christmas Carols in the café area of Gartnavel Royal Hospital, hosted by Kevin Franz lead healthcare chaplain and NHSGGC north west mental health services. All welcome.
  • December 12 2014 2pm-3pm: “Tea for 2…Hundred”
    A reminder of the elegant afternoon teas of a century ago and which were regularly served to patients residing in West House here on site. Afternoon tea will be on offer in each of the older people’s wards and in the general reception/café area
  •  December 17 2014  1-4pm“Wandering Winter Minstrels”
    The annual musical carnival led by Common Wheel musicians,which sets off from Campbell House the home of art in the gart at Gartnavel Royal and wends its way from the Maggie’s Centre, to West House, JB Russell House and then onto the wards of Gartnavel Royal Hospital.
  •  December 17 2014 6.15pm-7.15pm: “The Hub Singers”
    Come along to the main reception/café area of Gartnavel Royal Hospital and join with our resident Hub Singers and musicians of Common Wheel to sings seasonal songs and old favourites.
  • *December 20 2014 6.15pm-7.15pm: “200 years – new music for the next 200”.
    As we move to the end of 2014, the year in which we marked 200 years of organised psychiatric care in the west of Scotland, we invite you to the reception/café area of Gartnavel Royal Hospital to witness the first performance of a new musical composition led by Scottish Composer Andrew Cruickshank, in collaboration with patients and service users of mental health services northwest.
  • *December 20 2014: 7.15-8pm: “Christmas Jam and Dance”
    Join us for a pop-up gig and the eclectic musical mix of “The Jammin’Group” who  performed at the Festival of Neighbours “Over the Wall” here on site last August. A chance to listen, dance and enjoy hot chocolate and winter sweets.
