A post from our Community Correspondent Laura McGlinn who manages to see the funny side of a year defined by shingles and recovery from mental health problems

It’s Christmas!

Shingle Bells, Shingle Bells

Tingle all the way

Oh what fun it is to have a scratch on Christmas Day.

Hey Shingle Bells, Shingle Bells

Tingle all the way

Oh what fun it is to take Acyclovir 5 times a day.

Jingle Bells, Tingle Bells

Pain all the Way!

Not funny in anyway!

This year 2016 I’ve literally had it every month from the left to the right, don’t worry your not getting my version of “Agadoo” or the “12 months of Shingles my nervous system gave to me”.

Its been a challenge since it has chosen new destinations on my body, rather than staying at the same resort as in years gone by. It changed and so did I this year it has been an incredible journey of Recovery with my Mental Health and due to me exerting myself this has been the only downside.

I’ve already started planning and filling up my 2017 calendar and diary with learning, mindfulness, “The Mindful Image” training events. In which the very first of which was with  Mind Waves.

So have a wonderful, safe  Xmas and may good mental health & wellbeing prosper and be immovable for all in 2017!.

Lots of Love and Light

Dear Laura, just loved reading this. I too have been affected this year by uticuria requiring visits to dermatology at the Death Star. Now have an antihistamine pill to add to the daily cocktail of meds for the Bipolar, Thyroid, Blood pressure, Osteoarthritis – don’t think I’ve missed anything. People who know me, I was one of Rosie’s first Community Correspondents, know that I have a determination to just keep going. Now in my 60th year I am still just as passionate about mental health. I had taken a step back for self preservation and to care for my husband whose physical mobility is very poor. Mine is not brilliant either but between us and the medics we manage. Can I take this opportunity to wish you Laura and all the Community Correspondents & MindWaves team a good Christmas and best wishes for a better New Year. A positive 2017 for all of us. Pru x
